Last of Us serisindeki yazarlık ve yönetmenlik performansıyla akıllara kazanan Neil Druckmann, Naughty Dog eş başkanı oldu. Haber Naughty Dog’un internet sitesi üzerinden duyuruldu. Ayrıca diğer Eş Başkan Evan Wells’in açıklamasına göre Druckmann’ın geçmişte 3 yıl stüdyo başkanlığı yapmış olduğunu belirtti. Yani terfi bekleniyordu.
Eş Başkan Wells ‘’Naughty Dog’da harika bir takımımız var ve bu günlerde hepsi ile çalışmak tek tek çok anlamlı. Takımın başarılarını ve stüdyoya katkılarını fark edebildikçe onlarla gurur duyuyorum’’ dedi. Last of Us ve Uncharted gibi bilinen işlerden önce Durkmann; Jak 3, Jak X: Combat Racing gibi yapımlarda görev aldı. Üstelik şu an HBO tarafında yapım aşamasında olan Last of Us dizisinde de görevalıyor.
Her ne kadar halen tartışılıyor olsa da Last of Us Part 2, 2020’nin en yüksek puan alan oyunlarından birisi oldu. Özellikle hikâye anlatımı ve performansalar konusunda övgü yağmuruna tutuldu. Beklenen bu ilgide sonra ise Naughty Dog tarafından çıkarılacak yeni oyun gizemini koruyor. Yeni bir Uncharted oyunu mu gelir yoksa çılgınlık yapıp yeni bir Last of Us mı yayınlarlar bilinmez fakat en büyük dayanağımız şirketin 7 yıldır hiç yeni oyun serisine başlamamış olması. Belki de o gün bu gündür?
Yeni oyun her ne olursa olsun bizleri muhtemelen birkaç sene bekletecek. Uncharted 4 ile Last of Us arasında 4 yıllık bir boşluk var ve arada sadece biraz daha küçük ölçekli olan Uncharted: The Lost Legacy bulunuyor. 2020 yılında da Part 2 geldiği için yeni bir oyun görmek yüksek ihtimalle biraz zaman isteyecek. İlk olarak 2001 yılında piyasaya sürülen, platform türünde olan ve 3 ana oyunluk bir seriye sahip olan The Jak and Daxter, kendine has bir kitlesi olan ve PlayStation 2 zamanlarında çocukluğumuzu süsleyen bir oyundu. Fakat ne yazık ki The Jak serisi yıllardır raflarda göremediğimiz bir oyun ve bu denli oturaklı oyunlardan sonra şirketin seriye geri dönmesi pek olası görünmüyor. Fakat yine de beklemekte fayda var.
