Sony ve Microsoft, yeni nesil oyun konsollarıyla video oyun sektörünün kapsamını ciddi anlamda değiştirdiler. Bu konsollarla birlikte 4K çözünürlük ve 120 Hz tazeleme oranları artık bir standart haline geldi. Ancak "The Retro Future" isimli bir YouTube kanalının içerik üreticilerinden Elliot, bu durumdan pek de memnun kalmamış olacak ki çılgınca bir şey gerçekleştirdi. YouTuber, PlayStation 5'i GameBoy'da oynamaya çalıştı.
PlayStation 5'in ekranını bir GameBoy'a yansıtmak o kadar da kolay bir şey değildi. Neticede bir GameBoy, normal koşullarda HD çözünürlük bile sunamıyor. Bu zorlukların üstesinden gelmekte oldukça kararlı davranan YouTuber, birkaç adet dönüştürücü kullanarak bu zorlukların üstesinden geldi. Ancak bu dönüştürücü aparatlar, oldukça pahalı ürünlerdi.
YouTuber, PlayStation 5'i bir GameBoy'a çevirmek için her şeyden önce bir dijital/analog dönüştürücü almalıydı. Çünkü PlayStation 5'in dijital HD sinyalleri, GameBoy'a doğrudan yansıtılamıyor. Bunun için bir adet "HDMI-AV" dönüştürücüsü alan YouTuber, bu aparatla tüm sorunları çözemedi. Öyle ki bir PlayStation 5'in ekranını GameBoy'a aktarmak istiyorsanız, ikinci bir dönüştürücüye daha ihtiyacınız var. "Mayflash" isimli bu adaptör, AV sinyalleri haline gelen bir videonun GameBoy tarafından tanınabilmesini sağlıyor. İnternet üzerinden bulunabilen ürünün fiyatı ise vergisiz haliyle bile 1,200 TL'nin üzerinde.
Gerekli aparatların temini, YouTuber'ın amacına ulaşmasını sağlamadı. Öyle ki bu YouTuber, PlayStation 5'in arayüzündeki ayarlara girip, "HDCP" seçeneğini kapatmak zorundaydı. Bunu da yapan YouTuber, PlayStation 5'in ekranını GameBoy'lar üzerinden oynatmayı başardı. Ancak GameBoy'ların üzerindeki tuşlar, kullanılabilir durumda değildi.
